A direct cremation is a cremation with no officiant, funeral service ceremony or mourners. It is a very private and dignified service where a hearse, limousine or flowers are not considered necessary. We arrange the cremation date and the ashes are returned to the family with many deciding to hold a memorial service or celebration of life later.
Our current price for a direct cremation is £1,800. Please note that prices are subject to change due to factors beyond our control, such as third-party price increases including the crematorium fee.
After your passing, we will ensure that everything is taken care of according to your wishes. Our team of experienced mortuary technicians will collect you from your place of rest, where any personal possessions will be documented and removed unless you specify otherwise. We will transport you to our secure and refrigerated mortuary facilities, where we will provide the highest standard of care until the day of the cremation.
Our dedicated cremation advisor will work closely with your next of kin or appointed representative to complete the necessary forms and make the arrangements with the crematorium. We will inform them of the date of the cremation and ensure everything runs smoothly. On the day of the cremation, we will transfer you directly to the Crematorium.
Our service includes collecting you from a mortuary, private residence or residential care home, transport in a private ambulance, and care in our mortuary. We offer a sustainable eco-friendly premium cardboard coffin, specifically designed using 80% recycled materials and resulting in 90% lower carbon emissions during cremation. We also provide a basic traditional coffin as an alternative option. We take care of all the necessary paperwork and medical certificates. Your ashes will be collected and delivered to your family within 14 days. If you prefer, we can arrange for the ashes to be strewn in the garden of remembrance or another authorised location.
The service does not include re-dressing in different clothes, but we will provide a shroud in the absence of any clothing. There is no officiant, funeral service ceremony or mourners at the crematorium. The cremation is conducted privately and at the earliest available opportunity. We do not provide a chapel of rest, hearse, limousine or flowers. You will not be embalmed, and there is no viewing. If medical certificates are required, they are usually £82.00 per doctor and are not included in our service.
We also offer additional services that can be arranged after the cremation, including assistance with organising a celebration of life and providing an officiant if desired. Other available services include live streaming of the celebration of life, scattering of ashes, interment, memorial stones, and more.
